The Mitt in downtown Mount Clemens is the kind of restaurant the Pure Michigan tourism boosters will love. Located in the former Full Kilt on Main Street, The Mitt celebrates the Great Lakes State in a variety of ways including using mostly ingredients found in Michigan and offering a visual tribute through a wall-length mural of the Mackinac Bridge and even a lodge area, a nod to the cabins Up North.

Mitt the man visited Mitt the restaurant this afternoon. GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney made a quick stop at a downtown Mt. Clemens restaurant called The Mitt, where the owner presented him with an official eatery T-shirt that said," Got Mitt?" on the back, a take-off on the "Got Milk? ad campaign.

Mount Clemens — Happy hours won't start until The Mitt restaurant opens for good in Mount Clemens. But for more than 50 supporters of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, the good times kicked off Friday at the soon-to-be opened eatery. The Massachusetts governor made a quick stop at the restaurant this afternoon — part of his effort to win Michigan's primary Tuesday.

If the entrance looks like a mitt and it has a sign labeled The Mitt, then it must be a Mitt Romney restaurant, right? Well, not exactly. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney made a campaign appearance on Friday at a new downtown Mount Clemens eatery called The Mitt, serving as the honored guest among 125 people who gathered for a private party before the business has officially opened.

CLEMENS, Mich. — Mitt Romney stopped by a yet-to-be opened restaurant bearing his own name in between campaign events today, telling the owner that he hopes his name isn’t a “problem” for business. “I hope the name does not end up being a problem for you, it hasn’t been for me,” said Romney, shaking hands with Ken Leonard, the owner of the new restaurant The Mitt.

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich., Feb 24 (Reuters) - Are there any more Mitts out there? Mitt Romney is looking for them. Campaigning in Michigan, the Republican presidential candidate took a liking to a restaurant called The Mitt on Friday. The pizza eatery was not actually named after Romney, a native son of Michigan but it inspired Romney to give a history of his name and how he has searched in vain for other Mitts.
